This is really a mixed bag. Canceling plans just because you want to be alone is fine. As others have said, cancelling plans at the last minute is not fine, and neither is constantly cancelling plans to be alone. I've had friends cancel just to be alone in the past - which is fine. But when they do it constantly, it's not cool at all.
